המקור והמסכות
פנים אחד אמיתי. הרבה מסכות ריקות למטה. למעלה, נוכחות אנושית — מפורטת, עמוסה, נושאת את מלוא המורכבות של חיים שחיו אותם עד הסוף. עיניים שמביטות ישירות, בלי התנצלות. מתחתיה, עולם של מסכות: צהובה, אדומה, סגולה, ירוקה. כל אחת נושאת רק רמז של עיניים — בלי אף, בלי פה, בלי היסטוריה. רווח לבן מפריד בין האמיתי לביצועי. מעליו: העצמי. מתחתיו: כל הגרסאות שאנחנו מראים לעולם. הפנים האמיתיות לא מביטות למטה, אל המסכות שלהן. אולי הן כבר יודעות מה היו מוצאות שם. ציור XI שואל את השאלה העתיקה ביותר בסדרה: מי אנחנו, כשאף אחד לא מסתכל?
