הפרצוף האמיתי מקבל את הפס הצר ביותר של מרחב. רצועה אנכית — עדינה, מפורטת, נושאת כאב שקט בעין אחת ולחי סמוקה. כל מה שסביבה מתרחב: מסכה טורקיז גדולה התובעת לעצמה שטח, מסכה ורודה המבצבצת מלמטה, חשכה הזוחלת מהפינה. המסכות לא נלחמות על מקום. הן פשוט לוקחות אותו. לאט. בטבעיות. כאילו תמיד היה שלהן. ציור VIII מתעד מחיקה שקטה — לא דרמטית, לא אלימה. רק צמצום הדרגתי של המרחב שבו העצמי האמיתי מורשה להתקיים.
