Pansies in Terracotta
Pastel on velvet paper A cluster of pansies spills from a terracotta pot, their violet, magenta, blue, and golden petals set against a softly atmospheric background. Pastel on paper gives the blooms velvety edges and gentle transitions of light, while layered color keeps the arrangement lively. The result is intimate, cheerful, and softly painterly.

My artistic approach is based on stain painting using a method of creative release, the technique through which I learned to paint and which I apply in my own art and with my students. I paint both from observation and imagination, with my main subjects being the landscapes of my childhood, moving between Kibbutz Magen in the western Negev and Jerusalem, where I was born. My work combines different media, mainly oil on canvas and linen, pastels, watercolor, and gouache. Each medium allows me room to search and wander creatively, giving me the freedom to express painterly stains, release, and vibrant color in its own distinct way.
