Twin blue Faces- Papercuts

Maya Golk Apter

$559

Two stylized female faces emerge from sweeping blue and white paper shapes, their features interwoven in a flowing vertical composition. The collage language is crisp and graphic, using clean cut contours and strong positive-negative interplay to define hair, eyes, and profile. The restrained palette gives the work a poised, contemporary mood with a decorative edge.

My work unfolds in the elusive space between memory and fiction, between personal experience and family or collective myths. The geographical and emotional starting point of my art is rooted in La Peรฑa Laraโ€”a secluded island on the Rรญo Capitรกn in the Tigre Delta, Argentina. It is the place where I grew up, and which, over the years, has transformed from a tangible landscape into an internal, mythical, charged, and persistent one. In recent years, I have focused on the medium of paper cutting, working in a free, manual, and intuitive manner.
