The Un-Wild West

The Un-Wild West

$736

A cowboy in a dark hat points a hair dryer at the spot where a gun should have been, his face tensing in anticipation of the gunshot’s recoil. Expressive oil brushwork carves the figure with thick, angular highlights and dark passages, letting the canvas surface and layered paint carry rhythm and intensity. The result is bold, heated, and full of stage energy.

yoav peretz

Yoav was born in 1969 and lives in Beit Shemesh. He is an artist who engages and creates across diverse disciplines, including graphic design, art, music, and painting. He works primarily with oil and watercolor paints on various mediums. The inspiration for his paintings comes from his immediate, everyday environment—banal household objects, random moments in urban settings, familiar Israeli landscapes, as well as expressions of music and musicians in his artwork. Yoav finds beauty in simplicity and in the details that often go unnoticed, choosing to give them a stage. His oil paintings are characterized at times by free, loose brushstrokes and at times by precision and attention to detail, while his watercolor works are defined by transparency and fluidity.
