Lilo – The Winter Fairy of the Forest
“When all the trees put on their white sweaters, when every flower sparkles beneath a thin layer of ice, and when every breath of the forest squirrels turns into a sweet cotton-candy cloud, Lilo quietly arrives.” Little Lilo sits on a rigid wooden backing covered with illustrated fabric. Around her is a frame made from oak branches gathered in the forest, decorated with moss and natural yellow lichen that retains its color for years. Hidden among the branches are tiny details worth coming closer to discover: translucent amber stones, a heart formed from a natural material, and a dried fruit transformed into a small ornament. Every detail is collected, carefully chosen, and placed by hand, making each piece truly one of a kind. My inspiration comes from the nature that surrounds me, especially in winter, when the grass is fresh, the lichens turn yellow, and the forest is full of life. I create each piece by hand, combining illustrated fabrics, characters, and small natural treasures I collect in the forests of the Golan Heights. Each piece begins with a small element from nature and a connection between different materials. Slowly, a story begins to emerge. Every artwork comes with a postcard. On one side is a story written especially for the piece, and on the other, a space for a personal message to the child. Because each piece grows from an inspiration that might begin with a branch, a color, or a shape, every artwork is one of a kind. No two are ever the same.
