Ceci n’est pas une fourmi
Antwoman, is a character and artistic avatar that has accompanied my work over the years, serving as a foundation for a dialogue with familiar images from art history and visual culture. In Ceci n’est pas une fourmi (“This Is Not an Ant”), she enters the conceptual language of René Magritte, playing with the gap between image, word, and identity. The statement “This is not an ant” emphasizes the tension embodied by the character herself - a hybrid entity that resists any single, clear definition.

I’m Shimrit (Antwoman), a digital and interdisciplinary artist working across a wide range of media, with a particular focus on motion art, animation, interactive art, and dynamic NFTs. My work has been exhibited at events and exhibitions around the world. I hold a BA in Art and Digital Media and an MA in Interdisciplinary Arts from Tel Aviv University. My creative process is driven not only by a passion for making art, but also by an interest in how art communicates. I am drawn to connections - between people, nature, technology, and ideas, while continually seeking to challenge conventional hierarchies and boundaries. In this sense, my art becomes a kind of bridge-builder, instinctively bringing opposites together to form something new. I like to think of my practice as a philosophy of transformation: one that invites contemplation and enjoyment while questioning the status quo. Since 2021, I have been an active participant in the blockchain art scene. I am particularly drawn to the possibilities of blockchain technology as a new artistic medium. Through my work, I explore the relationship between art and technology, using blockchain to create dynamic and interactive artworks.
