Embrace Above the Rubble

Embrace Above the Rubble

Jack Vainunska

₪3,500

Two figures hold one another against a compressed cityscape of tilted buildings, dark windows, patterned clothing, and pale rubble. Acrylic paint on canvas creates flat areas of vivid color, firm black contours, and carefully repeated architectural details. The contrast between physical closeness and the unsettled surroundings gives the scene an energetic yet tender emotional charge.

Jack Vainunska

Jacques Vainunska was born in Lille, France, in 1948 and moved to Israel in 1971. A self-taught painter and photographer, he has exhibited extensively in Israel and internationally. His earlier works explored urban landscapes, contrasting historic neighborhoods with monumental modern architecture. Over time, his practice evolved toward a more layered and contemporary visual language, combining portraiture, abstraction, typography, musical notation and symbolic imagery. His work draws on music, literature, Jewish and Israeli culture, memory and historical figures. Working mainly in acrylic, Vainunska builds his paintings through layering, revision and intuitive discovery. The result is a distinctive body of work in which figurative imagery, abstraction and graphic elements merge into a highly recognizable style.
