Ben-Gurion and the City

Jack Vainunska

₪4,500

A portrait of David Ben-Gurion emerges among densely stacked towers, rooftops, graphic signs, a strip of blue water, and small sailboats. Layered acrylic combines crisp black contours and repeating window grids with scumbled passages, vivid drips, and playful urban motifs. The crowded vertical composition feels energetic and observant, creating a strong focal point for a living room, entryway, or office.

Jack Vainunska

Jacques Vainunska was born in Lille, France, in 1948 and moved to Israel in 1971. A self-taught painter and photographer, he has exhibited extensively in Israel and internationally. His earlier works explored urban landscapes, contrasting historic neighborhoods with monumental modern architecture. Over time, his practice evolved toward a more layered and contemporary visual language, combining portraiture, abstraction, typography, musical notation and symbolic imagery. His work draws on music, literature, Jewish and Israeli culture, memory and historical figures. Working mainly in acrylic, Vainunska builds his paintings through layering, revision and intuitive discovery. The result is a distinctive body of work in which figurative imagery, abstraction and graphic elements merge into a highly recognizable style.
