70mg of Lies
70mg of Lies is part of the "Pinocchio Land" series, which explores the ways people adapt to the pressures of modern life through humor, irony, and familiar cultural icons. Inspired by Pinocchio, the painting transforms the character's growing nose into a 70 mg capsule, replacing the classic symbol of lying with a contemporary symbol of coping. Here, the lie is no longer simply something we tell others. It becomes something we consume, normalize, and depend on in order to keep functioning. The capsule serves as a metaphor for the invisible supports, routines, and narratives that help us navigate expectations, productivity, and emotional survival. Executed in acrylic on canvas with bold colors and pop imagery, "70mg of Lies" balances playfulness with social commentary, inviting viewers to reflect on the stories we tell ourselves, and the mechanisms we rely on, to make modern life feel manageable. The framed image is for illustration purposes only. The artwork is sold unframed.

Muriel Elmaleh
Muriel Elmaleh is a contemporary artist whose practice moves between expressive abstraction, Pop Art, and figurative painting. Working with acrylic on canvas, she explores emotion, movement, and identity through distinct visual languages. Her abstract works translate emotion into movement through layered marks, drips, and sweeping gestures, creating compositions driven by rhythm, tension, and physical energy. In her Pop Art paintings, she draws on familiar characters, popular culture, and contemporary imagery, combining bold colors, playful compositions, and dark humor to explore the contradictions of modern life. Beyond abstraction and Pop Art, some of Elmaleh's figurative works draw from personal memory and her childhood in Ivory Coast, exploring themes of motherhood, resilience, and cultural heritage. Self-taught and instinct-driven, Elmaleh approaches painting through both intuition and experimentation. Whether abstract or figurative, her work moves between spontaneity and control, with emotion remaining at the center of her artistic practice.
