Yellow Hope
The painting was born after a trip I took in which I was exposed to the spectacular and temporary flowering of yellow "Sternbergia". The beauty that came up from the ground was a contrast to our daily pain as a nation. At the same time, the color yellow became the national anthem of the struggle for the freedom of the hostages in Gaza. They .took on a double meaning The composition is divided into two large focal points, which create tension and connection at the same time. On the right: a prominent and present image of a yellow Sternbergia flower. On the left: a female figure shown only through the outline of her hair without facial features, which makes the figure anonymous and allows for deep identification Instead of facial features in the center of the head, a delicate bouquet of dried flowers is placed. The dried flowers provide textural and symbolic depth, the contrast between the living flower on the right and the dried flowers on the left creates a symbolic parallel of life and death, memory and the present. What is fascinating is that during the creation, the images came to the canvas intuitively, not rationally, and only by looking back with the perspective of a past time, was I able to connect things and create a link to reality.
