Water under the bridge

Water under the bridge

Yogev Abutbul

$2,027

A surreal vision where civilization sinks into the depths and merges with nature. Through a classical buildup of color layers and glazes in tempera and oil, the artwork breathes life into a mesmerizing underwater world. The contrast between the structural, architectural precision of the stone bridge and the dreamlike fluidity of the water creates a visual tension that provokes thought on rising sea levels and humanity's place in nature.

Yogev Abutbul

A painter active in the field for about a decade, residing and operating a studio in Ramat Gan. He completed seven years of academic painting and drawing studies under the artist David Boskovich. He creates using oil, acrylic, and precise pencil drawings, with his work process deeply influenced by the tempera technique. Even when working with other materials, his approach to painting is based on layering, creating a base where light emerges from beneath the color, and using glazes to produce depth, transparency, and unexpected color combinations. He draws his main inspiration from nature, alongside spatial and three-dimensional thinking that is reflected in his artworks. The purpose of his paintings is to evoke emotion. Each piece is an invitation for the viewer to pause for a moment, step into the painted space, and find a connection to their own personal world.
