Stone Steps and Blue Window

Michael Lelann

$502

A sunlit passage of stone steps leads the eye between warm brick walls, dark wooden doors, and a vivid blue window framed by potted plants. The oil on canvas surface is built with layered brushwork and crisp outlines that emphasize the texture of masonry, foliage, and worn paving. The scene feels inviting and lively, with a strong sense of place and rhythm.

Michael Lelann

My name is Michael Le Lann. I was born in 1970 in southern France and immigrated to Israel in 1997. I currently live in Ashdod. I have always had a passion for painting. Over the years, I transitioned from drawing with pencil on paper to painting with oil on canvas. I am a self-taught artist with no formal training in art, having developed my artistic practice through experimentation and experience. My inspiration to begin painting in color came from a longing for my birthplace and the landscapes of Provence. Today, I primarily focus on landscapes of France and Israel, which I paint mainly outdoors, directly observing the landscape. The Jerusalem Hills, where I often paint, are a major source of inspiration for my work. My paintings combine the use of a palette knife and brush, working primarily with oil paints.
