Golden Harbor Reflections

Michael Lelann

$870

Four sailboats rest side by side across a glowing harbor, their white hulls set against a radiant sky and dark water streaked with gold. The oil on canvas is handled with lively, visible brushwork that builds movement through the reflections and warmth through layered oranges and yellows. The result is vivid and atmospheric, with a strong focal rhythm across the picture plane.

Michael Lelann

My name is Michael Le Lann. I was born in 1970 in southern France and immigrated to Israel in 1997. I currently live in Ashdod. I have always had a passion for painting. Over the years, I transitioned from drawing with pencil on paper to painting with oil on canvas. I am a self-taught artist with no formal training in art, having developed my artistic practice through experimentation and experience. My inspiration to begin painting in color came from a longing for my birthplace and the landscapes of Provence. Today, I primarily focus on landscapes of France and Israel, which I paint mainly outdoors, directly observing the landscape. The Jerusalem Hills, where I often paint, are a major source of inspiration for my work. My paintings combine the use of a palette knife and brush, working primarily with oil paints.
