Raptor with Catch

A bird of prey dominates the composition, gripping a fish against a post while turning its sharp yellow eye toward the viewer. Oil on canvas allows for soft transitions in the blue ground and more sculptural modeling in the feathers, talons, and fish scales. The close cropping and diagonal tension give the scene a concentrated, dramatic force.
