Living Matter

Photograph from a series dedicated to sculptors' workshops. Beneath a thin transparent sheet rests a sculpture in the process of being made. Covered with delicate drops of condensation, the plastic surface ceases to function merely as protection and becomes an image in its own right. It simultaneously reveals and conceals the form beneath, allowing only a faint sense of its presence to emerge. The sculpture seems almost to possess its own quiet life, while the plastic becomes a delicate membrane between inside and outside, between the time of making and the time of waiting. The photograph draws attention to those subtle states of the creative process that often go unnoticed. Like the series as a whole, the work explores human presence through material, space, and the traces of time, presenting the studio as a place where form is in a constant state of becoming. Print and presentation: Fine Art Print. Presented with a white mat and framed in wood.
