Her Story in Profile

This artwork deconstructs and reclaims the concept of history through a powerful visual and verbal play on words. The unique choice to paint on a backgammon board—a game traditionally deeply rooted in male spaces and patriarchal rules—serves as a sharp metaphor for the social and cultural realities that women have had to navigate throughout generations.By dividing the term into "History" (the official narrative, aligned with the rigid, structural rules of the male-dominated board) and "Her Story" (the female narrative), the artist subverts the board’s original purpose to offer a presence, a body, and a voice to women forgotten by time. The painstaking, repetitive dot-work on the female figure’s headpiece beautifully manifests the patience, focus, and intellectual wit required to reconstruct female identity and historical memory within spaces not originally built for them.
