Fitz and Molly

This painting was born from a heartbreaking scene in the first volume of Robin Hobb’s third trilogy in the The Farseer series. My intent was not to replicate the author’s imagery precisely, but rather to give form to Fitz’s boundless grief at the death of his childhood love, Molly. In moments of loss such as these—when heart and spirit are torn beyond repair—it seems that only the heavens themselves can withstand the depth of such sorrow.
