Amaryllis Above the Valley

Amaryllis Above the Valley

Haya White

$1,148

A large orange amaryllis fills the foreground, set against a soft hillside view with clustered houses and dense green trees. Transparent watercolor washes create airy transitions of light and atmosphere, while finer layered brushwork defines the petals and long striped leaves. The contrast between intimate botanical detail and distant landscape gives the piece a calm, luminous presence.

I was born in Kibbutz Tirat Tzvi situated in the verdant valley of Beit Shean. The climate is hot and dry during most of the year. My inspiration is largely drawn from my childhood memories of lush green fields, blazing hot summer days and the busy buzz of insects. My paintings express the bright colors of my surroundings bathed in the searing summer sunlight. Studied art at Kalisher school in Tel Aviv, graphic design and illustration at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem. I live in an old stone house, in the village of Ein Karem. Much of my time is dedicated to working on my paintings in watercolor. I paint landscapes, portraits and still life. “My work is deeply influenced by the magical play between light, color and shade found in nature’s terrestrial habitats”
