Boats in Shallow Water

Haya White

$656

Several moored boats drift across luminous shallow water, with a rowboat in the foreground anchoring the composition. Transparent watercolor washes let turquoise, blue, lemon, and pink bleed gently into one another, while loose brushwork and soft edges suggest reflected light and movement on the surface. The result is airy and relaxed, with a coastal calm that suits an intimate wall.

I was born in Kibbutz Tirat Tzvi situated in the verdant valley of Beit Shean. The climate is hot and dry during most of the year. My inspiration is largely drawn from my childhood memories of lush green fields, blazing hot summer days and the busy buzz of insects. My paintings express the bright colors of my surroundings bathed in the searing summer sunlight. Studied art at Kalisher school in Tel Aviv, graphic design and illustration at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem. I live in an old stone house, in the village of Ein Karem. Much of my time is dedicated to working on my paintings in watercolor. I paint landscapes, portraits and still life. โ€œMy work is deeply influenced by the magical play between light, color and shade found in natureโ€™s terrestrial habitatsโ€
