About

Israeli artist, living and working in Gush Etzion. I am a multidisciplinary artist, working mainly in the fields of video, photography and installation. I studied in various frameworks โ€“ formal and less formal. For me, creation is a kind of prayer, a ritual of solitude or meditation. Through art I seek to touch the spiritual and sublime. I draw inspiration from Far Eastern cinema, from its rhythm that prefers the slow, in-depth observation of the aesthetics of reality over the plot, from texts of ancient Hebrew prayers and songs as well as from Zen teachers, from wandering in nature or in an urban landscape and from conscious observation of the nuances of everyday life and the mental movements of myself and those around me. My photography often documents a reality, within which I search for beauty and balance in extreme situations โ€“ darkness or harsh light, which obscure parts of reality, choosing deliberate blurring and using it to explore shapes, colors and composition, or creating the illusion of wholeness through various techniques. Sometimes the exact opposite happens. I photograph from a quiet presence in space, "here and now", present-absent, allowing processes of change, quiet joy, grief or longing to penetrate in a "controlled" way through my lens, into me.
