Menashe Kadishman, 1932-2015, Israeli painter and sculptor. Winner of the Israel Prize for Sculpture in 1995. One of the leading and well-known artists in Israel who has also achieved success on the international stage. He won the first prize for sculpture at the Paris Biennale (1967). From the 1970s onwards, he devoted a significant part of his time to painting. His style reflects an expressive and emotional tone. The dozens of portraits of sheep he created over the years have become a hallmark of his work, alongside other motifs related to the experience of birth and death and the theme of bonding in the Jewish story.
