Tribeswoman
A profile figure emerges from a dense field of burnt orange, ochre, black, and muted green, their elaborate contours meeting across the composition. Layered pastel marks on paper combine broad areas of color with sharp linear accents and richly textured passages. The result is animated and enigmatic, with a warm palette suited to a living room, office, or dining area.

I am a self-taught artist and regard myself as an eternal seeker of knowledge, continuously experimenting with diverse mediums, techniques and materials. I love to spray, drip, etch and imprint transparent inks and aquarelles as well as pastels, charcoal and acrylics, watching rivers of color blend and withdraw. This process creates at times bold and multi-layered abstract works of art and at other times delicate depictions with careful attention to detail. Since I have taught English literature and linguistics for many years, I am intrigued by the relationship between language and the visual arts and am greatly inspired by female poetry. Questions about femininity and female identity are thus explored in my works again and again. I am also curious about the mystery of the creative process and its gradual unfolding. Therefore, the tension between spontaneity and intention in the process of art making is forever present in my works. I lead a happy, quiet family life with my husband and our three kids in a small community village in northern Israel. I love the beauty of nature that is found here in every piece of forest, wild flower and seasonal migrating bird. All of these naturally inhabit my art works as well.
