Just the Three of Us
It was a spring afternoon at Grandpa’s pool. Daniel, Emilie and Libby stood together at the water’s edge, unaware that a simple childhood moment would one day become a memory. Just the Three of Us was born from the desire to hold onto that moment. To suspend it somewhere between childhood and memory, before time inevitably moves it forward. Three red balloons float above them, the only vivid color in an otherwise monochromatic world. They carry childhood, innocence and hope, while the figures remain still below, caught for a moment in a time that cannot stay still. Based on a personal photograph, this is my most intimate painting to date. Not because the moment was extraordinary, but because it wasn’t. It was simply ours. The artwork is presented in an ornate vintage silver frame, as shown in the photographs. The frame is included in the price.

Muriel Elmaleh
Muriel Elmaleh is a contemporary artist whose practice moves between expressive abstraction, Pop Art, and figurative painting. Working with acrylic on canvas, she explores emotion, movement, and identity through distinct visual languages. Her abstract works translate emotion into movement through layered marks, drips, and sweeping gestures, creating compositions driven by rhythm, tension, and physical energy. In her Pop Art paintings, she draws on familiar characters, popular culture, and contemporary imagery, combining bold colors, playful compositions, and dark humor to explore the contradictions of modern life. Beyond abstraction and Pop Art, some of Elmaleh's figurative works draw from personal memory and her childhood in Ivory Coast, exploring themes of motherhood, resilience, and cultural heritage. Self-taught and instinct-driven, Elmaleh approaches painting through both intuition and experimentation. Whether abstract or figurative, her work moves between spontaneity and control, with emotion remaining at the center of her artistic practice.
