Suspended Plumage

$674

Two feather-like forms hang from slender lines beneath a broad dark band, surrounded by horizontal fields of white, charcoal, and pink. Oil on canvas combines softly blended passages with denser, tactile strokes across the violet plumage, while small ochre accents sharpen the suspended motif. The restrained composition and strong contrast create a quiet, enigmatic presence for an office or hallway.

For me, painting is a way of observing. I am drawn to figures, objects, and everyday moments – things that are always around us, but that we do not always stop to notice. Color is my starting point. It guides me toward the image, the composition, and the space in which it exists. Sometimes this is an almost empty space, with a single figure or object within it. It is precisely within this simplicity that I find room for a story. I like to detach a figure or an object from its familiar surroundings and focus on it on its own. When the context disappears, it takes on a new presence – sometimes quiet, sometimes playful, and sometimes evoking a sense of distance or loneliness. My work moves between people, still life, food, animals, and places. Despite their differences, they are all connected by the same perspective: an attempt to pause for a moment, look at something familiar, and discover something different within it. I work in various techniques, including oil paints, watercolors, pencils, and colored pencils. For me, painting is a place where the everyday can become a story.
