Silk Among Bamboo
Writing I received this dress as a gift from a young girl I met during a trip to China. For years, it was kept in a closet as a precious keepsake, one that is hard to part with. One day I realized that the most beautiful way to preserve a memory is not to hide it, but to turn it into art. I carefully cut the fabric, dismantled it from a wearable object into raw material, and glued it to the canvas. Each piece of fabric retains the story of that distant human encounter, and thus the dress took on a new life. For me, this piece tells of memories that change shape, of journeys that continue to accompany us, and of the ability to turn one small gift into a story that can be shared with others.
Orit Faier
Orit Faier was born in Russia and immigrated to Israel at the age of 27 after earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Art has always been an integral part of her life. About ten years ago, a chance visit to the "On the Edge of the Brush" studio ignited a deep passion for painting, leading her to fully dedicate herself to her artistic journey. Working primarily in oil on canvas, Orit incorporates a variety of mixed materials into her paintings, creating rich texture, depth, and dimension. Her work is inspired by life experiences and reflects an ongoing search for new and original forms of artistic expression.
