Liko tastes a pear

Liat Segal Menashe

$717

This painting is one of the first I ever created. It is titled "Liko Tastes a Pear" because, during the week I painted it, my son Leo,whose nickname is Liko, was a baby at the time and tasted a pear for the very first time. I had painted a giant pear on the canvas using a single black line, but a friend who visited my home remarked, "It’s too abstract for me." As I was just starting out, that comment stuck with me, and I ended up painting over the pear. To this day, I regret listening to her and erasing it, but it taught me a valuable lesson: not to let other people's opinions dictate my art. I promise to paint that pear again in a future piece. But if you’re curious to read how AI describes the painting...: Overlapping fields of dusty rose, warm brown, and softened white form an atmospheric vertical abstraction. Layered acrylic passages, scraped edges, and broken gestural marks create a tactile surface that shifts between density and openness. Its restrained earth-toned palette brings a meditative warmth suited to a living room, bedroom, or focused workspace.

Liat Segal-Menashe designs eyewear by day and creates abstract art by night. Shortly after her children fall asleep, she brings out her paints and canvas and lets her imagination take flight. Liat has been involved in art since childhood. Her artistic style has evolved over the years, but for the past decade, abstract painting has proven to be her enduring passion. Through her paintings, Liat seeks to convey emotion, a sense of things the eye does not necessarily see. For instance, she aims to evoke the feeling of a bloom without painting a flower in the traditional sense. The color pink chose her; every painting she started, whether she intended it or not, ended up featuring pink. This color, in its various shades, has become her artistic signature. She signs the back of every painting with a quote from an Israeli or international song that stirred her heart. words that, in her view, capture the state of mind she was in while painting or the emotion she sought to convey onto the canvas.
