Dog's talk
Two dogs are talking to each other. Yet the real conversation is not happening through barking, but through the body. Both are mixed-breed dogs, typical residents of Tel Aviv. One is black and white, large, extraordinarily fluffy and soft, with an expression of pure surprise. The other has warm golden fur. Set against an intense pink background, their encounter becomes vivid, playful and almost theatrical. For dogs, the body is their primary language. A glance, the position of the ears, posture, distance and movement can communicate far more than sound. Dogs have spent thousands of years alongside humans, becoming remarkably attentive to our gestures, faces and emotional states. Yet while we learn foreign languages to communicate with people we may meet only occasionally, we rarely learn the language of an animal that can spend its entire life beside us. The painting captures this silent exchange at its most expressive moment, humorous, intimate and instantly recognizable. Executed in oil, the work is unusually bright and saturated for the medium. Electric pink, deep black and white, and luminous golden fur create a powerful color contrast, while detailed painting preserves the softness and individuality of each dog. The two dogs are already speaking. The question is whether we have learned how to listen.
