Blue Vase with White Feathers

Maya Hanikblum

$329

A patterned cobalt-blue vase stands at the center, holding airy white feathers and delicate botanical stems against layered fields of lavender, gray, and yellow. Mixed media on paper gives the surface a lively range of opacity, soft blending, and drawn linear detail. The result is light, decorative, and quietly playful, with enough color to brighten a study, bedroom, or hallway.

My Art is about FEELINGS, FREEDOM, SLOWING DOWN and COLOR. I explore color as an emotional language and as an independent force within the painting. Through the interplay of color, line, texture, and form, I create works that invite the viewer to feel before they begin to interpret. For me, color is a way of expressing inner states โ€” calm and excitement, longing and joy, stillness and tension. The dialogue between warm and cool tones creates the emotional rhythm of each work, shaping its atmosphere, movement, and character. Nature is a central source of inspiration in my practice. I observe natural phenomena, light, movement, and transformation, and translate them into a personal visual language. At the same time, I am drawn to the simple and familiar elements of everyday life. I enjoy taking a familiar image, deconstructing it, and rebuilding it through color, line, and gesture. In this process, reality becomes a starting point for a visual game in which the familiar can take on a new and unexpected meaning. For me, painting is a space of freedom โ€” a place where color, material, and imagery come together to create an emotional experience that remains open to personal interpretation.
