A poised cheetah strides diagonally across the pale center of a live-edge wood panel, framed by the darker bark and irregular contours of the surface. Oil paint is handled with careful detail in the spotted coat and face, while the natural grain and shape of the wood remain an active part of the composition. The result is focused and tactile, with a strong connection to wildlife and raw material. Symbolizing the sharp mindset of efficient, goal-driven individuals—just like the cheetah in the wild

Anat Cohen (b. 1964) is an Israeli figurative artist based in Hod HaSharon, who acquired her formal art education at the Beit Berl Art College (HaMidrasha). Her body of work encompasses oil and acrylic paintings created on canvas alongside raw, live-edge natural wood slices. Her practice on wood centers on a continuous dialogue with the organic medium, seamlessly integrating natural fissures, rings, knots, and textures directly into the composition and narrative of each piece. Cohen’s realistic-figurative style explores the vitality of wildlife, universal symbolism, human nature, and feminine strength, fusing anatomical precision with organic abstraction to create immersive, soulful, and singular works of art.
