I wanted to know her — who she was, even what her face looked like. But the moment wouldn’t wait. So I froze the stillness already inside her that night, mostly so I could imagine, or simply remember, how she stood there in the middle of the road, almost sculpted — like a perfect Harajuku doll, seen only from behind. Above her, a half-full moon glowed, or maybe it was just a streetlight. I wanted to believe they, too, had gathered there with me for one brief moment — somewhere far away that once felt like home, perhaps in another life. I draw direct inspiration from the dense urban atmosphere of our time and am drawn to the margins - to the “backyard” of our space of existence. I move between city and nature, between bustling streets and hidden alleys, between noise and silence, between vivid color and minimalism. I am drawn to small moments and to places where life and beauty reveal themselves effortlessly. Over the years I have explored, specialized, and fallen in love with film photography. Beyond the aesthetic choice of the format, I was drawn to the fact that the result is not revealed immediately after shooting — to the gap created between the moment the image is captured and the moment it is developed, and to the creative freedom that this gap allows. I do not seek to stage reality or explain it, but to be present in it. When something strong within me calls me to stop, I stop, and from full presence in the moment I choose whether to photograph it. Sometimes it remains only as an image in my mind. For me, photography is not an attempt to capture the world, but to be part of it for a moment in time. ------ David Havrony graduated from the Photography Department at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem(2014), and holds a BFA in Fine Arts.
