Yair David
About
Yair paints landscape paintings in watercolors on paper. From his youth he was fascinated by landscapes, especially the kurkar hills surrounding Kibbutz Gberam near the Gaza Strip, where he grew up, and with the landscapes he conducts a dialogue through his paintings. He acquired the basics of painting in painting courses for the youth of the HaKibbutz HaMeuchad led by the painter Haim Kiva and studied with other painters in Israel, including Zvi Tadmor, Jan Rauchwerger, and Avigdor Steimatzky. Yair deepened his knowledge and learned the watercolor painting techniques that were common in Britain in the nineteenth century on seven painting trips to Britain. He has exhibited in more than sixty group and solo exhibitions in galleries and museums, including a group exhibition at the Israel museum, Jerusalem. Yair is an aeronautical engineer, a Doctor of Philosophy, and a recipient of the Israel Defense Prize.
