I work on canvas or on paper mounted on wood. Through extensive experimentation with materials and techniques, I discovered that my engagement with color and its material qualities is a source of freedom, release, and discovery. Working with a palette knife and generous layers of paint allows me to build depth, volume, and texture, giving the surface a strong physical presence. Two central techniques have evolved in my practice: building successive layers of paint with a palette knife, and scraping away fresh layers to reveal those beneath. The act of scraping echoes the world of children—their curiosity, playfulness, observation, and joy of discovery. The gradual revealing of hidden layers creates a sense of magic and gives my work depth and a distinctive presence. My work explores urban and natural landscapes, which I document during my travels in Israel and abroad. These photographs become starting points for paintings that are not direct representations of reality, but translations of impressions and emotions through color, form, and material. Vivid color is central to my work, expressing emotion, energy, and memory. The theme of home has accompanied me throughout my artistic journey. Moving from one home to another brings processes of change, renewal, and letting go, reflected in my paintings of houses, which explore belonging, memory, and transition. In recent years, I have also turned my attention toward the human figure, driven by a desire to observe, understand, and explore human connections. Using my palette-knife technique, I construct figures from thick layers of paint, creating both physical and emotional presence. Painting the figure has become a new way for me to discover the individual and the stories held within each person. My works are carefully planned and develop through several stages. I seek balance and symmetry through the arrangement of forms and elements, alongside contrasts of color, shape, and texture. At the same time, I leave space for movement, imagination, and interpretation, inviting the viewer to extend the lines, color fields, and story in their own imagination.
