Two seated women occupy the center of a densely layered setting, each absorbed in a handheld phone while their patterned clothing merges with the surrounding blue-green forms. Expressive oil brushwork, broken contours, and repeated marks create a richly worked canvas surface. The contrast between physical proximity and private attention gives the scene a contemplative, subtly uneasy mood.

For many years, I have been painting figures of people—mostly individuals I know and identify with—as well as various situations between them. This subject fascinates me, and capturing these figures and scenes is my way of expressing myself. I paint with oil on canvas as well as oil on paperboard. In recent years, I have been attempting to visually depict our changing environment, the figures within it, and human movement through space. I explore the illusions of reality and its elusive nature as time moves forward—the continuum we exist in, the rapid passage of time, and how we transform along with it. All of this captivates me and fuels my imagination. I paint social situations as well as figures in domestic settings and in nature, emphasizing a deep connection to the natural world, which for me is primarily expressed through a love for animals. I highlight the idea of "together and apart"—the dynamic between the figures themselves, as well as their relationship with the surrounding environment. I am particularly interested in inter-familial interactions, both within the immediate family and the extended one. By duplicating figures, I emphasize their intensity and the relationships between them. My work is grounded in photographic collages that serve as the foundation for my paintings. I construct compositions that range from dense and layered to airy and open. At times, there is a touch of humor in this density and in the playful family dynamics between the figures. In some paintings, I simply capture everyday moments within my own home or the homes of my close family—ordinary, daily activities. In others, I act as an observer, watching people present in public spaces. Some of my works emerge from a blend of past and present, creating an intergenerational connection. While the scene may appear routine, it carries surfaced memories from my own childhood.
