Reading by Flame
Viewed from above, a young robed reader holds an open book and a small flame that illuminates the face while textured walls recede into shadow. Presented as a photograph on paper, the image uses crisp detail, concentrated warm light, and deep tonal contrast to create an intimate focal point. Its meditative intensity suits an office, hallway, or contemplative living space.

My artistic approach begins with curiosity. I photograph out of a desire to observe the world closely and discover the stories that lie beyond what is immediately visible. I am drawn to places and people that hold multiple layers of meaning - culture, memory, tradition, and the relationship between people and their environment. Through photography, I seek to capture fleeting moments and give them presence and significance. My photographic process is largely rooted in observation and encounter. I am not simply looking for a beautiful image, but for that moment when different elements come together: a person and their surroundings, light and movement, tradition and contemporary life, or a small gesture that reveals a much larger story. Often, I return to the same place again and again, observing, waiting, and allowing the image to emerge from the encounter rather than relying solely on prior planning. The ideas that inspire my work are primarily connected to people, places, and the stories they carry. I am drawn to photography that invites viewers to pause, look closer, and wonder what happened just before the moment captured and what might happen next. For me, meaningful photography is not merely a record of reality, but a way of interpreting it - creating an emotional connection between the viewer and a place, a person, or a story they may never have encountered otherwise. In my photography, I seek a balance between aesthetics and substance: an image that stands on its own visually, yet continues to resonate long after the viewer has looked away.
