GOD BLESS AMERICA

Great America. The most powerful superpower in the world. A symbol of strength, security, and promise. For many Israelis, America has long been perceived as a steadfast source of support, a protective force, a trusted ally that would always be there in times of need. An almost invincible superpower, whose very presence provides a sense of security. At the center of the artwork stands a large, magnificent mechanical figure, adorned with American national symbols and the colors of the flag — red, blue, and white. Its body is made of metallic armor, gears, mechanical components, and weapons. It wears a broad, almost artificial smile, with its arms stretched out to the sides in a display of power. Yet above this enormous body, inside the control chamber, sits a small man. It is this small man who operates the mighty machine. And here lies the irony. Behind the military, economic, and political power, behind the flags, stars, and grand declarations, stands, ultimately, a single human being. A person with weaknesses, whims, personal interests, and ego. The mechanical figure, which at first glance appears invincible, suddenly becomes a sophisticated puppet, its immense power controlled by a small operator. The title GOD BLESS AMERICA takes on a double meaning. On one hand, it is a patriotic blessing, expressing admiration and faith in America’s greatness. On the other, it becomes an ironic statement, almost a plea: May God protect America — and perhaps everyone who depends on it. The artwork expresses an Israeli disillusionment with the belief in the unquestionable power of the American superpower.

Nurit Cohen is an Israeli artist exhibiting under her full name and artistic signature, NC. After more than 20 years in the field of landscape architecture, a significant turning point in her life led her to engage in guidance, healing, and the exploration of the connection between the body, consciousness, and self-healing. In recent years, she began creating a series of original works emerging from an intuitive process of hand-drawn doodling. From free-flowing and organic lines, biomechanical, surreal, and theatrical characters gradually evolved, combining imagination, memory, and a distinct personal visual language. Her works are characterized by precise black outlines, dense compositions, and vivid colors, moving between doodle art, symbolic illustration, steampunk, and contemporary fantasy. Each piece begins as an original hand drawing and is later refined through a meticulous digital process, while carefully preserving the original linework, structure, and raw character of the artwork.
