Gathering at the Ice

A colony of penguins gathers across a rocky foreground, their black, white, and golden forms set against a sweeping field of ice and distant peaks. Thick oil paint and vigorous palette-knife marks give the frozen landscape a rugged, tactile surface, while firmer contours define the birds. Cool blues and grays create an expansive atmosphere, punctuated by warm yellow and orange details.
